With the few choices given for Japanese Americans other than to enlist and risk death, or go through a overly intense security apparatus to have the mere chance of leaving the camps at the cost of being unable to return to the West Coast. Some opted to leave the phyiscal ring and enter the the Tribunal Ring. In other word, taking their cases to court. With notable figures such as Gordon Hirabayashi, Fred Korematsu and Minoru Yasui all trying their luck in maybe winning over the judges. All being denied on the basis of upholding national security. With essentially nothing changing in those 3 court cases. It was until 1945, when a 4th case was started; revolving around the Japanese woman, Mitsuye Endo. Who's case was at first offerred to offer her freedom, at the cost of only her being granted that oppurtunity. Yet she refused, contiuing to challenge the system that had placed her in that situation, not only for herself. But for everyone else who had been subjected to the cruel treatment of the camps. With a case concerning these camps reaching the Supreme Court a 4th time, The Supreme Justices reached a unanimous decision, that the WRA had no authority "“has no authority to subject citizens who are concededly loyal to its leave procedure.” (Citing the History.com Website) Finally ensuring the beginning of the end of this 4 year period in which American Citizens were forcibly relocated from their own homes.
